Our eyeballs have fallen off their sockets…
Since you chose to reside in the
White man’s land
Our moon has turned pale
Rocks fall from the skies
While the rain has refused to
Depart the blue cloud

Since you chose to reside in the
White man’s land

Our moon has turned pale
Rocks fall from the skies
While the rain has refused to
Depart the blue cloud

It is the heart’s heaviness that has
Given eloquence to the tongue

Ndubuisi my beloved brother
Since you chose the white man’s knowledge
Papa has shattered our hut with his teeth

Ndubuisi
Do you remember Onyekaozuru, papa’s classmate..
The one that broke our cane chair
With the left part of his buttocks?
Ndubuisi, his brain has been split apart
By the September thunder

Ndubuisi my dearest brother
Do you still remember uncle Ukaegbu?
He now swims inside the river of palm wine

Ndubuisi, when the sun was busy flaunting her glory
Ukaegbu ran into chief Ukala’s obi
Sliced off the right ear of his wife…
